Things to do

Walking or cycling is the best way to see the island and Rothaí Inis Oírr will provide you with a map and some tips for your exploration of the island.

Archaeology & famous Landmarks include Tobar Éanna, Cnoc Raithní, Teampall Chaomháin, Caisleán Uí Bhriain, Cill na Seacht n-Iníon, Signal Tower, Lighthouse and the Plassy shipwreck.

Relax on the beautiful sandy beach near the main pier or take your immersion to another level with a dip in the clear waters.  You could also hire a fishing rod and try your hand at fishing off the piers or along the coastline at high tide.

Check out the local craftwork at the craft shops and in the cafes.

The island also has an arts and cultural centre, Áras Éanna, where you can see exhibitions and learn about the traditional culture.   There is a 70 seater theatre where films, plays and concerts are held.  Visit www.araseanna.ie for their programme.

You can also keep informed of island news and activities through the co-op website.

See a short video to give you a taste of the island.
